Xiamen Taigu Airplane Engineering Co. Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as the Company), registered and founded in Xiamen on July 1st 1993, is a joint-stock aviation maintenance enterprise. The stock holders include Hong Kong Airplane Engineering Co. Ltd., Xiamen Aviation Industrial Co. Ltd., Cathy Pacific Airlines, Japan Airlines, Boeing Company, Kailan Aviation Technology Co. Ltd. and Singapore Airlines Engineering Co. Ltd. The Company came into commercial service in March 21 1996 and presently has three large hangars, each of which is able to accommodate simultaneously two wide-body airplanes and one narrow-body airplane in the middle for overhaul. These hangars are equipped with both airframe hanging docks and ground based wing-level workbench devices. Besides the hangars, the Company has a ramp with total area of 78,000 square meters for airplane parking, cleaning, fuelling, defuelling and system testing. By the end of March 2003, the Company has successfully completed, for more than 30 domestic and international air carriers, over 320 major maintenance services, including inspection of 41 sections on large jetliner airframe, modification of aged airplane, engine nacelle and structural modification, passenger to cargo configuration modification, airframe overhaul, and repair, installation and modification of avionics.
