On October 15, jointly hosted by China Aviation Supplies Holding Company (CAS), GE Aviation, General Aviation Committee of China Air Transportation Association, Administrative Committee of Xi’an Yanliang National Aviation High-tech Industrial Base, the General Aviation Short-distance Passenger and Freight Transportation Development Forum was held at Xi’an Greenland Pico International Convention and Exhibition Center (GPCEC). CAS Senior Vice President Jia Baojun attended the forum. On behalf of CAS, Vice President Yang Xiaoming addressed the forum. More than 50 people participated in the event, including domestic and foreign experts and business representatives in relevant fields. The forum was chaired by General Manager Jiao Jian of China General Aviation Service Co., Ltd (CGAS).
Yang Xiaoming said in his speech that, with fast, flexible, economic and other characteristics, general aviation has played an important role in all aspects of national economic development. China has a large demand for general aviation, and the demand is of huge growth potential, not only in the traditional agricultural area, but also in industrial areas such as electricity, oil pipeline patrol, and even in the area of private clients like business aviation. As different city and region have different level of economic development, the forms of demand vary. Among the many needs, to meet people’s basic travel shall be particularly attached importance. This is short-distance transportation, also called commuter airline abroad. CAS hoped to discuss with manufactures, operators, scholars and experts on the status quo of general aviation short-distance passenger and freight transportation so as to promote the development of the industry with specialty.
Experts from Civil Aviation Management Institute of China were invited to give special speeches and release their special investigation reports, which were cooperated with GE Aviation. They shared business models, subsidy situation and economic analysis of short-distance and commuter transportation in international and surrounding areas. The forum also invited Czech Aircraft Industry Company to introduce domestic and foreign commuter aircraft and their operation. In addition, domestic pilot enterprises of short-distance transportation shared their experiences and understanding. Aviation insurance specialist also briefed workable solutions to domestic general aviation insurance.
It is learnt that Chinese general aviation pilot program has preliminarily completed, and it is in full promotion stage. The development of short-distance transportation can effectively solve people’s livelihood and travel demand in remote areas, and has great significance in establishing emergency rapid response transportation network, and promoting tourism, logistics and other related industries. The forum strengthens the links and understanding of the parties, and greatly promotes the development of short-distance transportation.
