Distributed PV Power Plant in Hefei Airport Officially Put into Operation

2015-08-21

The distributed photovoltaic (PV) power plant in Xinqiao airport of Hefei was invested and built by the China Aviation Energy & Emission Solutions (CAEES). Recently, it was successfully accepted by the State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC), the Hefei airport and other authorities, and officially put into operation. It is expected to generate electricity of 400,000 kWh annually, equivalent to an annual saving of about 132 tons of standard coal to reduce carbon dioxide emission by about 340 tons.

In 2015, according to the objective of developing low-carbon economy and building green airports featured resource-saving, environment-friendly, high-tech and user-friendly, and based on the electrical load and existing resources of Xinqiao airport, CAEES built a distributed PV power plant on the building roofs with installed capacity of 400 KW. The project lasted for 2 months. It went through several steps such as putting on record in the National Development and Reform Commission, design review, construction, test run after grid connection, acceptance by SGCC and the airport, etc.

It was the first time for CAEES to carry out energy-saving business in a trunk line airport, which ranks 40 in passenger and cargo handling capacity, and was again in a domestic airport following the distributed PV power generation projects in seven airports of Xinjiang. The successful implementation of the project is not only conducive to building a green airport in Hefei, but also playing an exemplary role for the usage of PV technology in domestic trunk line airports.
