On August 7, China Civil Aviation Technology & Equipment Corporation Limited (AVITEC) signed a distribution cooperation agreement on GBAS with Honeywell Aerospace in Beijing. Vice President Sun Bo of CAS, President and CEO Tim Mahoney of Honeywell Aerospace attended the signing ceremony. President Ren Yu of AVITEC and President Briand Greer of Honeywell Aerospace Asia Pacific signed the cooperation agreement on behalf of each side.

AVITEC, a comprehensive service provider of airport equipments and technology, became the first sales agent in China for GBAS of Honeywell SmartPath. Its wholly-owned subsidiary TECHCOM will provide installation and maintenance services for GBAS system to domestic airports. The signing of the agreement marked that AVITEC further expanded the ground equipments and engineering business, and continued to increase its professional competence and competitiveness.

Sun Bo expressed his hope at the signing ceremony that, AVITEC should give full play to its sales channels and local advantages, and work closely with Honeywell to make contributions to the development of Chinese civil aviation. President Mahoney also hoped that both sides should make joint efforts to help domestic airports and air traffic control departments to reduce operational costs and improve productivity.

GBAS system, a new generation precise landing system of civil airports developed by Honeywell, will help airports, air navigation services and air traffic control authorities manage airspace more flexibly, improve the efficiency of aircraft departure and arrival.

Through the system and performance-based navigation procedures, more precise flight could be available in airport terminal areas during the approaching and taking off process. Therefore, the fuel consumption and the carbon emission could be reduced, cost be significantly saved, and environmental performance be improved.
